JULY 16: Normandy

Today we went over to Normandy to learn about the historical importance of this location and the actions that took place here in the 1940s-50s. Thousands of people died in the war with the Nazis and they should not be forgotten as devastations like this should never be repeated.

The whole trip included visiting a museum filled with artifacts and information of that time, seeing a 19 minute movie created in memory of Normandy, visiting the American cemetery, and lastly going to Omaha Beach.

While the museum was filled with mostly items of war there were also items that came to be during said war. Some of the items included clothing, radios, and bikes. There were also locations where you could watch video or hear speeches and such from the war inside the museum. Outside there was also a door that lead you into an old bunker.

We went over to the American cemetery were the soldiers lost at Normandy were buried. While there a ceremony was taking place to pay respects to the fallen soldiers.

Lastly at Omaha beach we took a bit of time for ourselves and also saw some of the memorials that we made for the soldiers of D-Day.
