So there on the 12th there was an optional museum that we could go to but I don’t believe anyone did. I personally went shopping with a friend and had a good time finding some interesting shopping districts and such. Definitely going back to some chocolatiers.
The 13th wasn’t any better. I did classes, worked on homework, reviewed material, and such. By the time I looked at the clock I realised I should be heading over to the Louvre. So I get there and the line is over an hour long (which I really should be expecting). The problem with this is that I have a dinner to get to and would only get an hour in there. So I talked it over and decided to use my ticket on my off weekend and spend a whole day there so I can enjoy it better. I can tell you that dinner was pretty ok. We had an avocado with a sauce for an appetizer, steak and fries for the main course, and ice cream with a slice of pear for dessert.
Today was Bastille Day. A bit of history on Bastille Day is the french day of independance. Bastille is the name of the fortress that use to stand there. It was July 17, 1789 that the people gathered at Bastille and demand that the troops surrender. The people ended up storming the prison and released its 7 prisoners. This was the start of the Revolution.
All I did do was go to a picnic with the group. It was a very fun picnic though. We went to Jardin des Plantes (a botanical garden). It also happens to be apart of a zoo. I rented out a soccer ball from the place we're staying at and got to kick it around with a few people (until we got told to stop ☺). There was also a special section that contains adele weiss for you Sound of Music lovers.
At night I went to the roof of our building as we were aloud to for only this once to watch the fireworks from the Eiffel Tower. It was super beautiful and really amazing with all the different designs and patterns that were done. I couldn’t really get a good picture of it but it was definitely great to watch (I’m sure there are videos on Youtube if you really want to see it).
